As an intercultural and China specialist with a focus on international trade and stakeholder management, Tom Parker has been providing a range of advisory services to both the private and public sector organisations across a number of industries including: biotechnology, higher education, agribusiness, financial services, local government, sports and recreation, health, tourism, and trade and investment.
Tom provides a range of services across the strategic communications and trade and investment disciplines. Central to his approach is the ability to facilitate complex issues into practical outcomes.
Over the past five years, Tom has delivered numerous outbound industry capability missions for the Victorian Department of State Development and Business Innovation (DSDBI) including consecutive China Super Trade Missions that led to significant beef exports and jobs in regional Victoria. In 2010, Tom was the Australian Football League (AFL)’s consultant in delivering an exhibition match as part of the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. In 2014, Tom signed China Southern Airlines as the first Chinese company to partner with an AFL Club, and is responsible for growing their brand awareness in the Australian market.
Tom has post graduate qualifications from both Australian and Chinese universities, and was an Honorary Associate at the China Research Centre at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) 2008- 2010 and is a re-elected board member on the Australia-China Business Council (Victoria 2009 -). Tom sits on the International Working Group of the Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority (VCAA) and is a regular external assessor for Victorian government scholarships programs.
